Happy Monday yall! I hope everyone had a jam packed weekend, because I know I did. Today I wanna get down on the album that is literally taking summer by storm. JackU has totally flipped the music business on its side with their new self titled album, “JackU”. With multiple number one hits ranging on three different billboard charts, and grammy buzz all around. Nothing less could be expected of Skrillex and Diplo; when you think of either artist success comes to mind. Diplo and Skrillex have been responsible for producing and jump starting many of our favorite artists like MIA, Missy Elliot, Sirah, Madonna, Ellie Goulding, and the list goes on and on.
It was only natural for Skrillex and Diplo to finally team up and make their relationship “group official”. Before the self titled JackU album dropped our ears were teased and appetites were whetted with some singles that have already proverbially, “broke the radio”. “Where Are U Now” featuring Justin Bieber and “Take U There” featuring Kiesza are the two singles that left everyone begging and wanting more. JackU has finally made the mainstream cool. Gone are the days of you being embarrassed of your summer music choices. Thank goodness the wait is over and we now all have an entire album to enjoy!
Skrillex keeps it 100 with his signature dubstep flare, while Diplo balances out the hardcore vibe with mesmerizing Caribbean beats. The two DJ’s have figured out the ingredients for a perfect symbiotic relationship. When you begin the album the first track is named “Don’t Do Drugs Just Take Some JackU”. You are immediately skyrocketed into a lean soaked, smoke cloud of perfection.
I have been a fan of both Diplo and Skrillex for many years and have watched both of their careers flourish into megastardom. Now other artists and DJ’s are lining up and down the block to collaborate with these two masterminds, because everyone can smell that Grammy buzz. As long as Diplo and Skrillex stay true to their style and what exactly got both of them to this point; I personally do not see their star power together slowing down any time soon.
Lets be real any album that you could listen to at a pool party, smoke sesh, or even soundtrack your breakup is an anomaly within itself. The album features some of our favorite artists like Trinidad James, Major Lazer, and a bonus track by Missy Elliot. In a summer slump weighed down by poppy riffs and sticky repetitive beats, the JackU album has basically become my ears lord and savior.
The album is available on Itunes, so people be a patron of the album that I promise your summer has been saved!
